The Riviera Maya runs south from Cancún along Mexico's Caribbean edge, and it packs an unusual amount of variety into a short stretch. Beyond the Beach

The Riviera Maya rewards curiosity more than most beach destinations. Swimming in a cenote — a freshwater sinkhole in the jungle — is unforgettable, and the Mayan sites at Tulum and, a little further afield, Chichén Itzá, give the trip real depth.
