Editorial Principles
Responsible Travel
Aurevia Escapes is an editorial publication, not a booking agent. We recommend places, operators, and experiences only after they meet our own standards for service, transparency, and impact on the destinations and communities that host them.
Sustainable luxury, considered
Luxury travel carries weight — carbon, water, land, labour. We do not pretend it can be net-zero, and we are wary of claims that suggest otherwise. Where we recommend long-haul flights, private charter, or remote lodges, we flag the trade-offs honestly and point readers toward credible mitigation: direct routing, lower flight frequency, longer stays, and shoulder-season visits.
How we vet partners and operators
- Hotels and lodges are evaluated on labour practice, local sourcing, community partnerships, and waste/water programmes — not just star ratings.
- Safari operators and expedition outfits must publish their conservation contributions and employ guides from the countries they operate in.
- Aviation and yacht charter partners are listed because they are reputable and well-known to our readers — not because we endorse private aviation as a low-impact choice.
- We decline relationships with operators who have unresolved labour, safety, or environmental complaints in their jurisdiction.
Over-tourism and destination pressure
Several destinations we cover — Venice, Santorini, Kyoto in cherry-blossom week, parts of the Amalfi Coast — are under real strain. Where we feature them, we steer readers to shoulder seasons, less-trafficked districts, locally-owned residences, and experiences that pay local guides and operators directly. We will not lead with destinations during peak weeks where municipal capacity is clearly exceeded.
Editorial-only, not a booking agent
We do not take bookings, hold deposits, or act as an intermediary. Every itinerary is verified directly with the provider. Prices and availability change — confirm before you commit.
Affiliate disclosure recap
Aurevia Escapes earns commission on qualifying bookings made through links marked with rel="sponsored" or the "Partner" badge. Commission does not influence editorial judgment and we publish negative reviews of partners when warranted. Full details on our disclosure page.
